There can never be enough family-friendly activities to take advantage of that offer both entertainment and education. Depending on the audience, a historic site may not offer the same excitement as something like a theme park, but there is a lot to be said for getting in touch with the past. National Historic Landmarks are designated such for good reason. If you are interested in historic attractions, consider touring Glenwood Cemetery in Houston, TX. Our property’s natural beauty and our 150 years of preservation are sure to astound you.
Glenwood Cemetery is steeped in history as we have been curating more than 25,000 burial records for well over a century. We have been a fixture of our community since the days of the Republic of Texas and the classical elegance of our monuments and statuary serves as a reminder of that deep heritage. There are many notable individuals interred at our premises, such as E. B. Cushing, Glenn McCarthy, Walter B. Sharp, and Ross Sterling. We welcome visitors to share in our rich history, but ask that they respect the rights of our private owners and the dignity of our buried.
Our historic tours are currently postponed, but we do allow reservations for upcoming dates. Explore our website to review our hours, get a sense of what to expect while at Glenwood, and learn all about us. We would not be able to offer our wonderful historic attraction without the efforts of the Glenwood Cemetery Historic Preservation Foundation, which has helped us raise the funds necessary for maintaining and improving our facility for more than two decades now. Please consider making a donation to the foundation.
